Week 6
Changes to make:
Leading on titles
As you can see in these two images of my section openers, I have lowered the amount of leading.
Move full titles, section openers and contents pages over to the far right of the page
The lower image shows how I have moved the title of my section opener over to the right. This works because it isn't pressed up so tightly against the left hand page, and gives it room to breathe.
This was actually much quicker and easier to do than I thought. It looks so much better now. I couldn't believe how different some of the placements of the Es actually were until I started fixing them.
This is the new pangram. In a funny way I like that it references the colour red seeing as that's the colour of my book.
The Didot spread was hard as none of the images apart from this Bruce Springsteen one were of high enough quality to be at that size. As much as I love Bruce, the image is in black and white which doesn't match the rest of the typeface images but I'm thinking I might change the colours of the images next semester anyway so I went with it for now.
Give contents page some hierarchy by bolding and using paragraph spaces
Give more room between entries in glossary (I didn't actually change this, because I played around with it again and still can't get it looking good when there are about 4 lines of text on the other page. I'd rather close together lines than a horrible little orphan.)
Tracking on running headers (make new paragraph style for them as I don't want to change the tracking on my regular captions)
Change em dashes back to en dashes as this was how it was in the actual book
Fix a couple of shapey rags
Change section openers (doesn't have to be done before the hand in).
Grid Analysis:
I then printed on SRA3, trimmed using the cutter in the photography block and handed in.
